Charlestown & The Shipwreck Heritage Centre

Charlestown is just 5 minutes drive from Casa Mia Holiday Cottage and is a beautifully picturesque working port. Developed and built between 1790 & 1810 by local land owner Charles Rashleigh, the port has survived and remains in use today, still exporting a small amount of clay each year.

Charlestown has largely escaped development and remains one of the most quaint and 'unspoilt' places along the cornish coast.

The Eden Project

The Eden Project is just 15 minutes drive away and is an amazing place which has to be seen to be believed. There are over 100,000 plants representing 5000 species from many different climatic zones of the world. The two hugh 'Biomes' are home to plants of the rainforests and of the mediterranean regions of the world.

The Eden Project holds many attractions and is definately worth a visit. It is one of Cornwalls newest attractions so if you do decide to visit, go early to avoid queuing and allow yourself a good few hours to look around.

Mevagissey

Mevagissey is just 20 minutes drive away and is very much a traditional Cornish fishing village, with lots of small shops, narrow streets and a small harbour.

Mevagissey is still a fine working fishing port and you can hire boats for trips around the bay if you wish. If you prefer to stay on land there are excellent walks along the cliff tops with magnificent views of the bay and the village below!

Boscastle & Tintagel

Boscastle village lies on the North Cornish Coast with Tintagel just a few miles to the South. A conservation area set in beautiful countryside, having one of the few remaining unspoilt harbour villages in Cornwall. The National Trust now own and care for the beautiful medieval harbour and surrounding coastline, ensuring everyone can enjoy this unique village for many years to come. Very nice Cornish cream teas too!

Tintagel is situated just South of Boscastle and is legendary for its association with King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table. The Castle, now maintained by English Heriatge, has become detached from the main land due to many years of erosion, but can still be reached by bridge. It is a hard climb to the top but well worth the effort if you are feeling energetic!
